In the heart of the Oetztal valley, embedded in the Stubai and Oetztal Alps, there is Längenfeld, which is the most populous village of the valley, counting some 4,000 inhabitants. Worth noticing are not only the parish church and the scattered Baroque chapels, but also the Folklore and Open Air Museum as well as the birth house of Franz Senn at Unterlängenfeld. Franz Senn was born in 1831 and was joint founder of the “Deutscher Alpenverein” (German Alpine Association).
The “Aqua Dome”, spa of Längenfeld, makes this village the one and only thermal village of Tyrol. Already in the 16th century the so-called “Längenfelder Badl” and its hot springs have been widely known, in the 1970s these springs unfortunately dried up. After exploratory drilling, this thermal spring could again be pinpointed in a depth of 1,865 m and the original “Längenfelder Badl” was reborn as “Aqua Dome”. The spa offers an interior area with pools with pleasant 34 to 36°C warm water, as well as an outdoor area with whirlpool, brine pool and pool with liquid sound. However, the ultimate highlight, which is also illustrated on many photos of this spa facility, are the three open-air hovering bowls. To complete the offer there is a vast sauna world including 2,000 sqm and special offers such as a canyon sauna, an earth sauna and hay baths as well as the “Alpen Arche Noah”, which is a separated area for families and kids.
For active holidays in summer, there are 150 km of hiking trails, 114 km of fitness trails and jogging as well as 80 km of MTB trails. Moreover Huben, which is part of Längenfeld, is equipped with a Nordic Walking park, licensed by the Austrian Nordic Walking Association, as well as two fantastic fixed rope routes in the mountains. In winter, however, two skiing areas are within short distance: the Sölden - Oetztal skiing area offers 148 km of well-groomed slopes, while the Obergurgl-Hochgurgl skiing area boasts further 110 km. And in the environs of the spa, there are 60 km of cross-country ski trails snaking in the winter landscape. There is also a free shuttle for skiers and cross-country skiers!
Our recommendation: surprise your partner with a romantic winterly horse-drawn sleigh ride… sliding across the snow-covered landscape, a cosy blanket, spending some time together…
