The village Angerberg and its ancient farms, located in the heart of the Inntal valley, has been mentioned for the first time in 1190 AD. Until December 1981 the village used to be called Unterangerberg.
Angerberg is a popular destination for hikers and cyclists, as the local mountain Buchacker is located close. In the surroundings, too, there is the Adlerweg, one of the main long-distance hiking trails of Tyrol with a length of 280 km. Every year, there is also a respective feast taking place at the Buchacker mountain, including a mass, a Sunday-morning get-together as well as live music and entertainment. There is another nature jewel that can be visited at Angerberg, which is the Hundalm cave, the only ice and drip-stone cave of Tyrol. Since 1956 it has been under natural protection and in the mid 60s scientists started investigating in this cave. Seeking a thrill? So come to the water sports school and outdoor academy “Get Wet Adventures” at Angerberg…
About 40 km of cross-country ski trails at the sunny plateau Angerberg - Mariastein make you expore the snow-covered landscape. Awarded with the “Tiroler Loipengütesiegel” seal, a title for cross-country ski trails, it is able to satisfy every needs and of course on these slopes cross-country ski competitions are staged. Moreover on certain days you can enjoy night-time cross-country skiing on the illuminated track at the sports centre. Those who love skiing can look forward to the well- known SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental, the largest ski resort of Austria with 279 km of ski slopes.
Our recommendation: in the village there is also a husky ranch, where you can learn how to deal with a team of dogs. In winter there are also taster courses, an unforgettable experience!
