The municipality of Reith bei Kitzbühel is only located 5 km from Kitzbühel and connects the Brixental valley to the Söllandl. The village is a calm alternative to vibrant life of Kitzbühel. In 1190 AD Reith was mentioned for the first time as “Ruote”, referring to an ancient clearing, and this was also when when the first church was built.
Its location in the heart of fabulous mountains and a great view on the Kaiser mountain chain and the Kitzbüheler Horn and Hahnenkamm mountains transform Reith into an exclusive spot for those who love active holidays. Playing golf at the Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith golf course as well as hiking and cycling in the surrounding mountains are particularly popular activities. Another worthwhile destination is the Gieringer Weiher, a natural pond in the recreation area Bichlach, as well as Lake Schwarzsee, located between Kitzbühel and Reith. The latter is one of the warmest and most beautiful lakes for bathing in the Alps.
In winter, directly in the village, Reith bei Kitzbühel offers a ski lift, and of course the skiing area of Kitzbühel offers more variety and choices. Skiing experts should not hesitate to try skiing down the famous “Streif” ski slope - a free shuttle service takes you there! By the way: the ski school of Reith is one of the 16 Tyrolean ski schools that has been awarded with the “Quality Award”. Moreover there is a vast network of hiking and cross-country ski trails.
Our recommendation: the village centre and its Baroque parish church and Gothic tower are worth to be visited!
