Mieming
Mieming is located on the Mieminger plateau at the foot of the homonymous mountain chain.

At the foot of the Mieminger mountain chain, there is the the village of Mieming with its 3,000 inhabitants. The component localities Untermieming, Weidach, Fiecht, See, Tabland, Zein, Obermieming, Barwies, Zirchbichl, Krebsbach, Fronhausen and Freundsheim belong to the municipal area, extending to the Gaistal valley. Beside the colours red and white, the emblem of the municipality also shows a juniper, which often occurs in this area.
Not only thanks to its farms that have often been decorated with gable ornaments or the so-called “Lüftlmalerei”, kind of illusionary painting, as well as its moss and larch meadows, Mieming is an attractive holiday resort which has dedicated itself to soft tourism. And not for nothing the plateau with the four villages Mieming, Wildermieming, Obsteig and Nassereith has been detected by film industry! The German TV serial “Der Bergdoktor” (The Mountain Doctor) as well as some episodes of the German detective series “Tatort” were shot in this area.
The offer regarding leisure time activities are varied! Particularly hikers are attracted by the village, offering 35 km of hiking trails in the immediate surroundings, as well as alpine pastures with mountains huts offering local delicacies. You love golf? So Mieming is the right place for you! The golf park Mieminger Plateau with its 9-hole and 18-hole golf course has even been awarded as “Best Newcomer 2008″ by the “Golf Revue”. Also the natural lake for bathing with volley and basket field as well as table tennis and football is a popular destination both for adults and kids. Round this lake there is a hiking trail, which is perfect for a pleasant promenade. In winter, however, the lake transforms into an ice skating ground. The sports offers are completed by tennis courts, an indoor pool, a riding stable, a ground for skaters as well as 28 km of cross-country trails with a free ski lift facility.
