New Year's Eve Swim
Info
Description
The proverbial "jump into the cold water" takes on a whole new dimension at the New Year's Eve Swim on Lake Achensee. The daring participants jump into the lake where the water temperature is approximately five degrees Celsius. The tasks: swim 25 metres, climb an artificial iceberg, ring the New Year's Eve bell, and then swim back. A chilly "pleasure" – and arguably the most refreshing New Year's Eve tradition in the country.
Another highlight is the fun competition: swimmers jump into the lake in costume. The most imaginative costumes are rewarded with applause and prizes. The New Year's Eve Swim attracts numerous spectators who cheer on the brave individuals in the water from the promenade in Pertisau.
