Altitude: 1,050 m a.s.l.

In the northern part of the Wipptal valley, 20 km from Innsbruck, there is the market town Steinach am Brenner. Here you are on the road to the Brenner Pass and to South Tyrol in Italy, located only a stone's throw away. The name of the village derives from the German word "Stein" (stone) and refers to a large number of stones found in the local streams. Steinach is the home of several celebrities, such as Martin Knoller, an important artist of the 18th century, and Heini Messner, the winner of the first Ski World Cup race of the history.

The village is conveniently situated along the Brenner Railway and the Brenner Motorway, and has thus got good transport connections. The lift facilities start directly in Steinach am Brenner and take you in summer to the popular hiking area Bergeralm, and in winter to the eponymous skiing area featuring 29 km of slopes and a ski kinderland. However, in the centre of the village there are a shooting range, a swimming pool, a football field and tennis courts.

As above mentioned, in Steinach am Brenner winter sports begins conveniently in front of the door. Besides the Bergeralm Ski & Fun Arena, also the 8 km long Steinach high-altitude cross-country ski track and the Bergeralm toboggan run await you for some winter fun. The latter is comfortably reachable by cable car and stays illumated three times a week. Have fun!
