Mentioned for the first time in the year 1028 AD, already before this date, in the period of time of the Carolingians, Prutz was an area where people used to stop, later on it was a posting station. At the beginning of the 20th century a fire devastated great parts of the village, but the ancient village-scape with its typical West Tyrolean characteristics could be preserved…
Due to its position at the entrance of the Kaunertal valley, in summer Prutz is a popular starting point for hiking and cycling tours in the hiking area Ried-Prutz-Fendels, the Kaunertal valley and the tri-border region. And after an exhausting hike we recommend you to make a jump into the adventure pool of Prutz, offering three different pools, a water slide, counter-current swimming pool and a wave pool. Moreover the weekly animation programme for children with the mascot “Bibi” makes holidays in the village for the little ones even more varied. By the way: also an active camp at the Inn riverside belongs to the municipal area.
In winter Prutz makes part of the family skiing area Ried-Prutz-Fendels with its 14 km of ski slopes. Moreover the “Ski6″ ski-pass also makes you access the skiing areas Nauders, Venet, Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis and the Kaunertal Glacier with its glacial skiing area. In other words, overall 340 km of ski slopes are on hand in your winter holidays! Further winter sports activities that can be practised in the surroundings are cross-country skiing, sledging and snow-shoeing, making Prutz a really popular holiday resort.
Our recommendation: the so called “Sauerbrunnenquelle” spring at Prutz is considered to contain very healthy and acidic water. A real must-see is also the Pontlatz bridge!
