Pinswang

Also the cross-border Forest Adventure Centre Füssen-Ziegelwies with its treetop path is located close to Pinswang

Altitude: 819 m a.s.l.

The holiday resort Pinswang is located in the north of Reutte at the border of a basin-like extension of the Lech river. The old name "Pinuz" means "meadow with bulrushes". Already the Celts settled this area some 2,000 years ago, followed by the Romans who built the famous Roman road Via Claudia Augusta across the municipal territory. Today, four hamlets belong to Pinswang.

The above mentioned Via Claudia Augusta is a popular long-distance cycle path today, leading from Germany across the Alps to the Adriatic Sea. You can also walk parts of it at the "Kratzer" by foot. Another hiking destination for those interested in culture is the "Schloss im Loch" cave castle ruin below the Burgschrofen hill. A cave castle is a castle that was built into a natural cave: Probably the overhanging rock signified protection already for people in Stone Age, testified by a cup-marked stone that was found in this place years ago.

With Füssen in Bavaria, famous for its royal castles, Pinswang shares the Forest Adventure Centre Füssen-Ziegelwies, which snakes its way through the Lech Gorge. An alluvial forest and mountain forest educational trail as well as the treetop path, which opens up another perspective, are part of it. In winter, in Pinswang there is a 9 km long cross-country ski trail, and with the nearby Reuttener Seilbahnen lift faciliities, you reach comfortably the Hahnenkamm Reutte Skiing Area.
