Lake Lans
Lake Lans, located at 980 m asl on the outskirts of Innsbruck, is a popular bathing lake.
Lake Lans, in German called Lanser See, is located in Lans in the district of Innsbruck Land and is the largest lake in the city area (the largest lake is the Rossau pond). The lake, an alpine marsh lake, is easily accessible via public transport from Innsbruck. It is fed by ground water as well as the neighbouring water lily lake, the Lanser Moor. The Vill river represents its only runoff.
In summer Lake Lans represents a popular destination for those who love swimming and spashing aroud. Pleasant water temperatures of up to 25 degrees attract a large number of people from near and far. Water slides and a diving platform as well as a magic island in the middle of the lake make bathing even more pleasant, above all for children. Moreover there are two nudist areas - one of them only for women - as well as a huge lawn for sunbathing. What is also really popular in summer is pedaloing. A beach volley, football and basketball field as well as facilities for playing frisbee and badminton complete the offer. By the way, you absolutely don’t have to miss the view on the Stubai Glacier you enjoy from the terrace of the lake!
In winter, however, the lake is completely frozen and you can enjoy ice skating. The ice is always looked after so Lake Lans is a popular destination also in the cold months of the year…
