Europäische Burgenwelten Ehrenberg 2011

Europäische Burgenwelten Ehrenberg

An adventure and family museum for all your senses expects you in the east of Reutte.

The majestic castle and fortress ensemble Ehrenberg, consisting of a fortress, the ruin of Ehrenberg, the fortress at the so-called Schlosskopf and Fort Claudia, soars in the east of Reutte along one of the most important trade routes of ancient times. No matter if emperors, knights or merchants - everyone had to come by this place due to the strategic position between north and south. Still today it enchants hikers and travellers from all over when passing this place, even at night, when the castle and fortress ensemble is impressively illuminated.

A real Mediaeval adventure is what expects the whole family in the “Europäische Burgenwelten Ehrenberg”, a museum for all your senses. The entire facility can be visited following a well signposted path network. History to touch is also offered in the special exhibition “On the Knights Trail”. In 14 representative rooms 14 burdens of knighthood and a knight’s life in general are illustrated. Alchimists, experiments, crusades and plague… experience it firsthand and participate actively. Or maybe you would like to become a knight yourself? Also little hearts will leap for joy, as Rüdiger, the knight, accompanies children throughout this exhibition, realised in a child-oriented way.

However, the exhibition “Historical” retells the 700-year long history of the castle and fortress ensemble Ehrenberg. Culture presented in an amusing and lively way, this would be an apt description for this exhibition. The old pile has got much to tell, as you might imagine…
