The majestic castle and fortress ensemble Ehrenberg soars in the east of Reutte along one of the most important trade routes of ancient times. No matter if emperors, knights or merchants - everyone had to come by this place due to the strategic position of the fortress. Still today it enchants hikers and travellers from all over when passing this place, even at night, when the fortress is impressively illuminated.
A real Mediaeval adventure is what expects the whole family in the European “Bergenwelten Ehrenberg”. The entire facility can be visited following a well signposted path network.
History to touch is also offered in the special exhibition “On the Knights Trail”. In 14 representative rooms 14 burdens of knighthood and a knight’s life in general are illustrated in a child-oriented way. Alchimists, experiments, crusades and plague… experiencing firsthand and participate actrively. Or maybe you would like to become a knight yourself? Also little hearts will leap for joy, as Rüdiger, the knight, accompanies children throughout this exhibition.
However, the exhibition “Historical” retells the 700-year long history of the fortress, presenting it in a lively way. Culture presented in an amusing way, this would be an apt description for this exhibition. The old pile has got much to tell, as you might imagine…
