The municipality of Anras with its hamlets is located along the Pustertal valley high road.
Altitude: 900 m asl
The municipality of Anras includes the area from the foothills of the Lienz Dolomites to the Defereggen mountain range and from the small village Erlbach to the Kristeinerbach river. The settlements in the village are wide spread and are mainly located on the sunny side and the bottom of the valley. The municipality includes Asch-Winkl, Anras and Ried and is located from 900 m up to 1,261 m asl. Living in close touch with nature is the motto in Anras, located in fact in the heart of a great natural landscape.
Already in ancient times the bishops of Bressanone recognised that this area is ideal for recreation and for this reason they established a summer residence in Anras: Anras Castle, which has once been also the court of the area. This castle was venue for exhibitions and concerts until 2014.
Those who love sports and seek relaxation will love Anras due to the wide variety of leisure time offers. Due to its impressive location in the heart of nature it is an ideal place for various activities like mountain biking, hiking or simply walking. Moreover different leisure time facilities like tennis courts give variety. In winter time the Thurntaler mountain expects you with its 22.5 km of well-groomed slopes in the ski center Sillian - Hochpustertal.
Our recommendation: the 2.5 km long high-altitude trail Kristeinertal valley is known as “sunniest cross-country ski track of East Tyrol”!
