Lienzer Bergbahnen Skiing Area - East Tyrol

The Lienzer Bergbahnen lift facilities transport you with one ticket into two skiing areas: Zettersfeld and Hochstein

The skiing areas on Mt. Hochstein and Mt. Zettersfeld are accessible from Untergaimberg resp. from the Lienz Castle Hill, forming the Lienzer Bergbahnen Skiing Area between the High Tauern National Park and the famous Dolomites. They are not connected to each other, but they are accessible with one ski pass only and easily reachable by the Lienz Dolomites ski bus service.

The slopes of Mt. Hochstein, the local mountain of Lienz, are perfect for practicing all disciplines, and for this reason many national ski teams come to the area for training purposes. Every two years it is venue for the Women's Alpine Ski World Cup (slalom and giant slalom), alternating with Mt. Semmering. The finish area is located right in the town of Lienz. Three sections take you up to 2,000 m a.s.l. where one of the best and longest ski slopes of the Alps starts: the World Cup Run.

Mt. Zettersfeld, however, 300 metres higher than Mt. Hochstein, is known as the sun terrace of Lienz and - with its wide ski slopes that are secure from avalanches and the family-friendly offers - it has been certified as "Tyrolean family skiing area". There are mostly easy and medium difficult slopes, deep powder snow areas and mogul slopes, the Sunsite Park for boarders and the Fun Slope Lienz. Kids, however, can look forward to special children's rates, childcare and the Moosalm Kids' Area. The mountain is popular in winter also among paragliders and ski tourers.
