You can experience Lake Hinterstein in the Wilder Kaiser Nature Reserve during a walk around the lake, but also as a wonderful environment for swimming. On the eastern shore is the Lake Hinterstein Outdoor Pool (Freibad Hintersteiner See), a "lido", as it is called here. The lake itself is of drinking water quality and warms up to a pleasant 20 to 22 degrees C in the summer months.

At the shore, the lake slopes downwards, while at its deepest point it can reach 36 metres. The outdoor pool awaits you - in addition to the lake access - with a kiosk, sanitary facilities and changing rooms, as well as sun lounger, parasol and SUP (standup paddleboarding) rental.

You can reach the lido by car, but we recommend the hiking bus that runs regularly between Lake Hinterstein and Scheffau am Wilden Kaiser. By the way: The lido is run by the Bärnstatt mountain inn, which is located in the district of Hinterstein, about 1 km from the lake.
