Hike to the Tiefental Alm hut

On the Pitztaler Almenweg path, at almost 1,900 m a.s.l., the Tiefentalalm mountain hut is located by the Pfitschebach brook in the shade of the forest. We pay a visit to the mountain hut, starting from the village of Scheibe near St. Leonhard.

The Tiefentalalm hut can be reached on an approx. 4.5 km long forest path, which branches off at Scheibe near St. Leonhard im Pitztal. We first walk through the forest towards north, then several bends follow until the bridge over the Pfitschebach brook (also called Gschwandbach). From the bridge it is only about one more kilometre to the hut. The forest thins out and the path crosses the Pitztaler Almweg, which leads to the Neubergalpe towards north and towards south to the Arzler Alm. Accompanied by the babbling of the brook we manage the last a bit steeper section to our destination.

The Tiefentalalm mountain hut is idyllically located on the edge of the forest straight on the bank of the Pfitschebach stream. Behind the mountain hut the peaks of the Kaunergrat crest with the 3,277 m high Gsallkopf rise into the sky. The hut offers good local food and is thanks to its petting zoo and playground also a beautiful destination for families with children.
