Hike to the Ehrwald Mountain Hut

The Ehrwalder Alm mountain hut is located in the valley between the Wetterstein Mountains and the Mieming Range. In winter a popular skiing area, it turns into a lovely place to relax in summer, surrounded by meadows and beautiful limestone mountains.

The meadow path, starting at the valley station of the Ehrwalder Almbahn cable car, is the best way to reach our destination. The path leads via the Ganghofer Hütte mountain hut in a 90-minute walk to the Ehrwalder Alm mountain hut (Ehrwald Mountain Hut).

There are several possibilities for a rest stop in this area (besides the Ehrwalder Alm), such as the Tiroler Haus and the Alpenglühn mountain inns. Thanks to the cable car, the mountain pastures are accessible for everybody, also for those who don’t want or aren’t able to walk the short but partly steep way up.

We decide to extend our hike and continue on the path no. 813 to Lake Igelsee, situated on the passage to the Gaistal valley. At the time of our hike, the lake is reduced to a small pond, but the beautiful alpine meadows and the view on the Mieming Range and the Wetterspitzen peaks are worth the effort of the further 1.5 km.
