Hike through the Kaiserklamm gorge

The Kaiserklamm gorge in Brandenberg offers the possibility for a short but quite spectacular hike through a particular natural monument

From the Kaiserklamm parking space (chargeable) at the Kaiserhaus tavern a forest road leads to the entrance of the gorge in a few minutes on foot. A wooden gate marks the entrance to the Kaiserklamm natural monument - also called Emperor's Gorge. A narrow but well-secured path leads through the limestone gorge close to the rock face. The Kaiserklamm is not just a gorge, but captivates by special scenic beauty. Lime and marble rocks provide a special reflection of the water of the Ache and make it shimmer green. Above the rushing water the path runs almost flat, partly over bridges and through tunnels hewn into the stone.

After about 1 hour, the narrow gorge ends and the valley becomes wider. Here the valley, surrounded by woods, offers space to relax in nature. Not only the flora of the deciduous and mixed forests of the Brandenberg Mountains is surprisingly rich in species, but also rare butterfly species find their habitat here, so that the landscape around the Brandenberger Ache is sometimes also called the "Valley of butterflies". For our way back to the Kaiserhaus (rest point) we take the same route. The Kaiserklamm gorge is accessible from May until October.
