MTB tour to the Darmstädter Hütte hut

Beautiful tour from St. Anton am Arlberg into the heart of the Verwall Group: Crisp ascents alternate with leisurely sections, up to a lake and high alpine rock and glacier areas

Our tour starts in St. Anton am Arlberg. At the Julius Lott Path we underpass the Arlbergstrasse road and reach the bridge over the Rosanna river. First, we take the forest road (no. 771) up the meadow slope and through the forest, which then runs along the ski slope above the Moostal valley towards south. A longer section follows at altitudes between 1,600 and 1,700 m a.s.l., which leads through an alpine meadow landscape to the Tritsch Alp (Tritschalpe).

Then the ascent to the Rossfall Alp and the Kartellspeicher (2,000 m a.s.l.) starts. Past the reservoir, a last, crisp ascent follows, which takes us up to almost 2,400 m a.s.l., where the Darmstadt Hut (Darmstädter Hütte) is located. The mountain hut is surrounded by peaks of more than 3,000 m of the Kartell Group in the Verwall Mountains. After a well-deserved lunch break, we later descend via the same route. The wide gravel road is technically hardly a challenge, but nevertheless caution is required during the descent, especially in the upper section due to the partly sharp stones.
