Tyrol has a well developed network of cycle paths and routes. In this way all main valleys of the country are interconnected.

Due to the widely slight ascent of the cycle paths they are very popular among bicycle tourers and also locals, either for leisure activities or to reach the workplace, school or shop without using the car. The Tyrolean cycle paths are partly asphalted or proceed on well traced out gravelled paths. In sections the routes follow field paths or cross the village centres on little-frequented roads. No matter if you cycle through green valleys or ancient alleys, through forests or along rivers, the backdrop of the Tyrolean mountains is a constant companion.
Some cycle routes, such as those through the Inntal or Zillertal valleys run parallel to a railway line. So bicycles can be transported in the train in case of bad weather or fatigue. Elsewhere bike shuttle services are available during the summer season. Also numerous benches, rest points and taverns along the cycle routes can be found – perfect conditions for a comfortable or demanding cycling tour along the Tyrolean cycle routes!
