The Rarity Zoo Ebbs (Raritätenzoo Ebbs) is a private animal park that really lives up to its name, as 500 real rarities of 70 different animal species from all over the world can be observed in this zoo. Many zoo inhabitants move about freely, which makes a visit even more adventurous.
The zoo in Ebbs has been founded by the bird and nature enthusiast Erich Eberl, who made his private animal park publicly accessible in May 1991. Since 2007, however, the Rarity Zoo Ebbs has been under a new guidance and is one of the awarded Austrian animal parks “Top Tierparke Österreichs”. Those who are awarded with the Austrian seal, are subject to a regular, voluntary control by an independent Austrian team of experts in the farming of animals.
Maned wolfs (see pic), Bennett’s Wallabies, king vultures, hornbills, Seychelles giant tortoises, barbary apes, flamingos, porcupines and coatis are only some of the animals that are going to welcome you in this zoo. What is also astonishing for zoo visitors are the quite uncommon friendships that originate among zoo inhabitants. Two swans, a cormorant, three great white pelicans and two Hawaiian gooses made friends and as it is usual for friends, from time to time they meet to make a walk across the zoo.
