Pitztaler Gletscher und Rifflsee 2011

Pitztal Glacier - Rifflsee skiing area

The highest located glacial skiing area does not only attract due to its panorama on the remarkable surrounding high mountain region.

The skiing area Pitztal Glacier - Rifflsee, located high above the municipality of St. Leonhard im Pitztal, offers ideal skiing conditions for adults and children. This is where you can explore 68 km of ski slopes at an altitude ranging from 1,640 and 3,440 m asl. Slopes of every level of difficulty make the ski region also suitable for beginners. Snowboarders can look forward to the slopes at the Mittelbergerbahn lift facility as well as a great funpark boasting waves, hand rails, straight boxes, jumps, corners and step-ups.

In this skiing area you don’t have to wait until snow is falling, as on the Pitztal Glacier there is always snow. For this reason this skiing area is also an attraction in spring and autumn (closed from May to September). However, in the skiing area Rifflsee you can enjoy skiing from December to mid April. Both in the skiing areas Pitztal Glacier and Rifflsee, you can enjoy a fabulous view on the mountains of 3,000 metres of the inner Pitztal valley. One of the offers that has to be highlighted in this skiing area is the so called “Bambini Freipass”, which provides a free skipass to children under 10. There are also reductions for children under 15.

Some 60 km of cross-country ski tracks can be explored by those who love nordic sports. And in late afternoon you can meet up in the mountain restaurant Rifflsee, the cosy Rifflsee mountain hut or the country style Taschach Alm refuge. Oh yes, skiing in the highest located glacial skiing area is a real pleasure!
