Kitzbühel und Kirchberg

Kitzbühel and Kirchberg

This world famous skiing area is located in the heart of the Kitzbühel Alps.

In the centre of the Kitzbühel Alps, only 6 km from Kitzbühel, there is the skiing area Kitzbühel/Kirchberg, including several mountains and valleys and extending up to Mittersill. The Fleckalmbahn lift facility takes you into right into the skiing area from Kirchberg. Once reached the so called “Ehrenbach-Höhe” on 1.800 m asl, you can immediately start skiing. Where to go? Maybe you would like to try skiing down the mythic “Streif” ski slope, featuring elements with household names like “Mausefalle” (mousetrap) and “Hausbergkante”, which will make you break out in a cold sweat. On this legendary slope every year the best skiers have a fight. Or maybe you prefer skiing down the wooded slopes of Kirchberg? Or straightforaward into the lifestyle bars? Well, why not? Eventually Kitzbühel is not only world-famous for its ski slopes, but also for après ski and parties. Kiing until spring - a real pleasure, and partying as well!

Kithbühel, however, has also got various winter activities to offer. Those who do still not have enough, in the evenings might enjoy skiing and tobogganing until 11 pm. For cross-country skiers there is a wide cross-country ski track network and those who simply would like to walk can do so on varied hiking paths.

Every year in January, the ski elite as well as the elite of non-skiers meets in Kitzbühel. This is when the popular Hahnenkamm weekend takes place. Beside a spectacular ski race, this weekend is also characterised by diversified fringe events. In a word parties round the clock. If you prefer quiet winter holidays, we recommend you to avoid the “Hahnenkamm” weekend. :-)
