Tristach

Lake Tristach, a popular recreation area, features a bathing establishment in summer and an ice skating rink in winter

Altitude: 670 m a.s.l.

Only 3 km from Lienz, there is Tristach, located at the foot of the majestic mountains of the Lienz Dolomites. The village is known above all for its lake, which awaits you with an average water temperature of 24 degrees C in summer. It represents a popular recreation area in all seasons.

Tristach is the starting point of the Lienzer Dolomitenstrasse, a panoramic road leading up to the Dolomitenhütte Hut at 1,600 m a.s.l. There's the access to the Laserz fixed-rope route, and there starts the hike to the Karlsbader Mountain Hut and Lake Laserzsee, a power place in a stunning natural landscape. Down in the valley, however, one of the most popular trails is the Historic Path. It takes you to an old plague column with a majestic linden tree that has been planted in 1879 AD on the occasion of the silver wedding of Franz Joseph I of Austria and the Empress Elizabeth.

Winter in Tristach stands for skiing, ice skating and sledding. The Lienzer Bergbahnen Skiing Area includes the two mountains Zettersfeld and Hochstein. In the valley, Lake Tristach transforms into one huge ice rink - depending on the weather - and the natural toboggan run Kreithof stays illuminated in the lower part, guaranteeing fun on the snow also in the evenings.
