High above the valley there’s the Pustertal Alpine Path which takes you to the Hochstein Mountain Hut at 2,042 m a.s.l

The holiday village of Assling extends on both sides of the Hochpustertal valley, but only the northern part along the Pustertal High Road and the valley section along the Drau river are inhabited. The village has brought to light some famous citizens, such as the composer and church musician Ignaz Mitterer (1850-1924) and the former alpine skier Irmgard Lukasser.
Two highlights stand out from the varied offer of leisure time activities: One of them is the Assling Adventure World with its wildlife park, where you can observe animals such as marmots, racoons, lynxes and wild boars. A summer toboggan run on rails, called Fun Alpine East Tyrol and especially loved by children, snakes its way through the meadows of the Adventure World and leads past grazing roes. Furthermore there's the Vitalpinum Wellness Garden, a very special place to relax.
If you are interested in culture, you shouldn't miss the wonderful wing altar from the 15th century, a masterpiece by Friedrich Pacher. It is housed in the St. Corbinian Church in the component locality of Thal, considered to be one of the most beautiful late Gothic churches of Tyrol. The Archaeology Room Assling at the local town hall, however, shows findings from the St. Justina Church Hill and the Mortbichl hill, among them medieval art treasures from iron and ceramics.
