Stanzach

The most ancient construction of Stanzach is the “Älbele”, which has been passed on from generation to generation for centuries

Altitude: 939 m a.s.l.

At the 1,710 m high Nerenkopf there is Stanzach, a quiet village at the junction of the Namlos and the Lechtal valleys. One of its hamlets is Fallerschein, which has been transformed into a holiday resort. Stanzach was mentioned for the first time in 1294 AD as "Stanzahe", which means "sojourn and accommodation", as the village was once whereabouts for lumberjacks.

Today, Stanzach is located idyllically in the heart of the Lechau Meadows, which are part of the Tiroler Lech Nature Park. Guided tours in this nature conservancy are offered on a regular basis and show you a rare flora and fauna. If you seek a thrill, you might love to try rafting on the wild-water river Lech, the second fastest river of Europe, or canyoning in the gorges of the valley.

Equally impressive is the alpine pasture village of Fallerschein at 1,304 m a.s.l. with its 40 log cabins. As largest pasture village of the region, it offers also a small and cosy dairy where you can have a glass of tasty fresh mountain milk. Moreover there is a deer-stand to watch the deer in its natural environs. In winter, Stanzach turns into a white wonderland with two 1.9 and 7.4 km long cross-country trails and the toboggan run at the Stoamandl Lift.
