Pflach

The nature park village Pflach is a real paradise for bird lovers, since this is where the protected Lechau Meadows are located

Altitude: 836 m a.s.l.

Only 2 km from Reutte there is an elongated row village: Pflach, the "plain" (from the Middle High German term "vlach"). In the 15th century, iron ore was mined and a brass hut was established, the only brass plant of Western Austria. The old galleries at the foot of Mt. Säuling and the Hut Mill Chapel dating back to 1515, boasting a wonderful Gothic wing altar, remind on those times.

In the protected Lechau Meadows near the village there are a 18 metres high birdwatching tower and the Bird Educational Trail, providing an insight into the interesting world of local bird species. In the alluvial forest you can admire many rare nesting birds, and at the stations along the trail you can hear the voices of 30 important bird species digitally. The area is freely accessible: On a regular basis, the nature park rangers offer guided walks.

Pflach is located in great position regarding extended tours from the Reutte valley basin onto the surrounding summits. Among the popular destinations there are the Säulingshaus Mountain Hut at 1,720 m a.s.l. as well as the summit cross, located 300 m higher in altitude, which is acessible in an additional hour. In the village itself, there are tennis courts as well as an ice skating ground and the Musau-Oberletzen cross-country ski track in winter, making your holidays even more exciting.
