Kaisers

Already in the 19th century, Kaisers in the rear Lechtal valley was a popular starting point for mountain tours

Altitude: 1,518 m a.s.l.

The mountain village of Kaisers is located in a side valley of the Lechtal at more than 1,500 m a.s.l. It was part of the municipality of Pettneu am Arlberg until 1938, and for this reason, Pettneu still owns the pasturing rights at Kaisers. Today, the municipality is composed of the hamlet Kienberg and the settlement of Kaisers, extending on the steep slopes. Alpine farming is still important here.

Already in the 19th century, the village was a popular starting point for hikes. Up to WWII, the parish estate was at the same time run as tavern "Gasthaus zum guten Tropfen". Today, a beautiful tour takes you into the Kaisertal valley with the Kaiserjoch Mountain Hut and into the Almajurtal valley. Another hike of 2 hours leads to the Kaiseralm Pasture at 1,689 m a.s.l., located in a fabulous position below the 2,648 m high Aplespleisspitze peak.

Whereas the Lechtal High Route snakes its way between the Lechtal Alps, in the valley the family-friendly Lech Cycle Route continues to Reutte. In winter, Kaisers is an ideal terrain for those who love ski touring, and offers culture lovers an interesting visit to the former pilgrimage church of Kaisers, dedicated to St. Anna, the mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
