Grän 2009

Grän

Grän is a little village in beautiful Tannheimer valley.

Altitude: 1,134 m asl

Grän, comprising an area of about 20 sqkm, is located in the Tannheimer valley and is considered to be “the most beautiful high mountain valley of Europe”. Cultural highlights in Grän are two altarpieces: The piece of art in the Aloisius chapel illustrates Saint Aloisius worshipping baby Jesus, whereas the altarpiece in the Jacob’s chapel pictures Saint Jacob von Minor.

Moreover Grän offers various leisure time activities, both in summer and winter: In summer you can enjoy bathing in Lake Haldensee, surrounded by a great mountain scenery (see pic). Don’t forget your camera! ;-) Sports enthusiasts can enjoy playing volleyball, while others can sit back and relax in “Cindarella’s Castle”, a wellness area of 3,500 sqm (open by appointment). Grän and surroundings also offer different nordic-walking routes and various possibilities for walking and cycling.

In winter Lake Haldensee offers ideal conditions for ice skating and curling, on request also floodlit. On the sunny side of the Tannheimer valley, there is the skiing area Füssener Jöchl, guaranteeing action-packed days on the snow. Sleigh rides and toboggan runs provide variety in the skiing area!

Our tip: Worth a visit is also the cheese factory, where you can see traditional methods of cheesemaking!
