Ehenbichl
Ehenbichl is located in the valley basin of Reutte, far away from hustle and bustle.

The municipality of Ehenbichl is separated from Reutte by the 939 m high Sintwag mountain. The village has been documented for the first time in 1404 AD as “Ehenpühel”, this term reminds on the court of Ehrenberg, as “Ehe” stands for rights and “Bichl” means “little hill”. In the upstream located locality of Rieden there are several mansions, pointing to the fact that Ehenbichl used to be the summer residence of German aristocrats in the 19th century.
Over the Lech river, representing also the border of Ehenbichl, there is a bridge, which is the oldest way across this river and which is also subject of a fresco painted on a façade in the village. This bridge connected Ehenbichl and the neighbouring village of Höfen. Still today there is a footpath between the two municipalities, consequently you can reach the Reuttener Bergbahnen lift facilities on foot. Ehenbichl, part of the area of Reutte, is located at the foot of the ruin of Ehrenberg, which has got a special attraction to offer, the adventure museum “Europäische Burgenwelten Ehrenberg”. This museum provides a special insight into the world of Mediaeval times. The exhibitions are child-friendly and for this reason a great experience both for adults and kids is guaranteed. In summer Lake Riedener makes you jump into its refreshing waters, a welcome change on hot summer days! The environs offers several hiking and MTB-trails and is particularly popular with mountaineers. A riding stable and a fitness course make your leisure time even more varied. This fitness trail, called “Forstmeile Sintwag”, is a 1,800 m long exercising trail which includes a 1,000 m long running course and a 800 m course with obstacles. In winter, however, in the village there is the little Waldrastlift skiing facility, moreover the skiing area Reuttener Seilbahnen-Hahnenkamm is within easy reach, offering 15 km of ski slopes. By the way: the Giant Slalom World Champion of 2007, Nicole Hosp, was born in Ehenbichl!
Our recommendation: the largest Roman and knights festival takes place every year at the “Europäische Burgenwelten Ehrenberg”! In this festival adults and children can make a journey back in the times of the Romans, knights and aristocrats for three whole days.
