Embedded into the beautiful landscape of Mt. Marienberg, there’s the Summer Coaster Biberwier starting at the intermediate station

Biberwier is located at the southern end of the Lermoos Moor along the former Roman road Via Claudia Augusta, the reason for which Biberwier was already settled in that time. From Middle Ages to the 20th century, along the Silberleithe area there was the largest mine plant of the Ausserfern region, where calamine, lead ore and zinc ore were mined. The name Biberwier, however, derives from the beavers (Biber, in German) that lived in this area up to the year 1800.
Today, Biberwier is a popular holiday resort, offering numerous hiking and cycling possibilities. To get a little foretaste: A path takes you in a 6-hour tour to the Berglesboden area at 1,884 m a.s.l., further on to the Nassereith Mountain Hut, and on the Roman Path back to Biberwier. Another tour leads on the Montan Silberleithe Trail to the former Silberleithe mining area. In the village itself, there are two tennis courts and a horse riding stable.
Where in summer the summer toboggan run Biberwier snakes its way through the meadows of Mt. Marienberg, in winter the small Marienberg Skiing Area opens its doors. It is part of the famous Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena Ski Region: Modern snow-making equipment makes skiing possible until late spring. Also horse riding in the fairytale winter landscape, and cross-country skiing on the Sonnenspitzloipe and Weissenseeloipe tracks make your winter holidays varied.
