The Vorderes Sonnwendjoch mountain as well as Lake Zireiner belong to the municipality of Münster.

Münster extends on a little rise at the foot of the Rofan mountains. Part of the municipality are also the hamlets Asten, Grünsbach and Habach as well as the castles of Lichtenwerth and Lipperheide, located on the opposite site of the Inn river. The emblem of Münster shows a dancer flanked by two gloves, referring to the local custom of the so-called “Handschuhtanz”, so to speak the “dance of the gloves”, taking place on Whitmonday: the best and most beautiful dancer gets a pair of gloves!
Particularly attracting are the mountains surrounding Münster, such as the Vorderes Sonnwendjoch (2,224 m asl) and the Rofanspitze (2,259 m asl) with Lake Zireiner. From the top of the Vorderes Sonnwendjoch hikers enjoy a breathtaking view on the Unterinntal and Zillertal valleys and the Kitzbühel Alps, if the weather is fine. Lake Zireiner, however, is considered to be “the Jewel of the Rofan” and is the most photographed mountain lake of Tyrol. The Rofanspitze peak is reflected in the water of the lake, changing colours depending on the weather. In the surroundings there is another area with six lakes called “Kramsacher Seengebiet”, this is where you can dare to make a refreshing jump.
In winter, the skiing areas of the Alpbachtal and Zillertal valleys are located in the surroundings and provide fun and action on the slopes. Moreover, all vacationers of the Alpbachtal valley are provided with the “Alpbachtal Seenland Card”, making you benefit from various offers and services, such as free sledge rental at Münster. For those who prefer active holidays, there are several cross-country tracks, a natural sledge track as well as winter hiking trails in Münster and is surroundings. Likewise popular are horse rides in the snow-covered landscape. At the Hauserwirt, the largest stud farm of the area, you can try horse-riding all over the year, both indoor as well as under the open sky, or go for a pleasant horse-drawn sleigh-ride.
