Ebbs

Ebbs at the foot of Mt. Zahmer Kaiser is known beyond borders for its foal farm with the largest Haflinger horse breed of Europe

Altitude: 475 m a.s.l.

With its approx. 5,600 inhabitants, Ebbs is the largest village of Tyrol and - located at 475 m a.s.l. - at the same time also the lowest one of the region. The municipal coat of arms depicts a horse's head, pointing at the long tradition of horse breeding in the municipal area. The name Ebbs comes from the terms "ad Episas", deriving from the Celtic horse goddess Epona.

Boredom, what's that? Also animal lovers can look forward to several highlights. Famous all over is the Ebbs Haflinger Foal Farm, comprising the largest Haflinger horse breed of Europe. This farm and the respective museum can of course be visited, and also the World Haflinger Exhibitions take place in this special location. Furthermore there is the Rarity Zoo Ebbs with its exotic animals, including maned wolfs and Nasuas: All of them are born in human custody.

If you are looking for active holidays, the beautiful Kaiser Mountains invite you to climbing, hiking and mountain biking in summer. In the valley, the Inn Cycle Route - Tiroler Unterland leads past the village and continues to Innsbruck, and the so-called Fun Arena, an adventure and leisure park with sauna and outdoor pool, provides further variation. A part of it transforms into an ice skating ground in winter. The toboggan run of the Aschinger Mountain Hut and the cross-country ski track in the village complete - together with the two nearby skiing areas - the winter offer.
