Angath Winter 2011

Angath

The rural village of Angath is a popular holiday resort located at the Inn river.

Altitude: 500 m asl

Agath and its villages Aichat, Fürth, Giglmair, Haslach and Unterachleit, is located at the Inn river, close to the city of Wörgl. Including 3.5 sqkm, Angath is one of the smallest villages of the district of Kufstein.

In the 15th and 16th century, Angath represented the centre of the Tyrolean navigation on the Inn river as well as the centre of shipbuilding. The three main haves were Hall, Langkampfen and Angath and in the emblem of the village still today two rudders remind on this important function. Until the Inn river had been regulated, also the only larger island in the river was part of Angath. Worth to be visited is not only the parish church of Angath dating back to the years 1746/47, but also the Hundalm ice and drip-stone cave in the neighbouring village Angerberg.

Due to its beneficial position, Angath and surroundings offers everything active vacationists wish for. Located in the Kitzbühel Alps, hiking and cycling in this area is more than an experience. Moreover the Inn cycle path passes at Angath, taking cyclists from the Maloja pass in Switzerland to Passau in Germany. All this, combined with its calm locating and crystal clear mountain air, make Angath a really popular holiday resort for those who seek relaxation. In winter, however, the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental offers 279 km of well-groomed ski slopes, able to satisfy everyone’s needs. This ski carousel has been repeatedly awarded with several titles…

Our recommendation: events focusing on customs and traditions as well as concerts take place on a regular basis and offer a better insight into this lovely little place!
