Söll Winter 2011

Söll

The enchanting village of Söll is located at the foot of the Hohe Salve mountain in the holiday area Wilder Kaiser.

Altitude: 703 m asl

Söll is located in the north of a planar pass plateau, which levels off towards the Brixental valley in the south and the Leukental valley in the north. This village boasts a large number of hamlets and dispersed settlements, such as Wald, Salvenberg and Lechnersiedlung. The village is flanked by two impressive mountain ranges, which are the Wilder Kaiser mountain range and the Hohe Salve, the local mountain of Söll.

Summer at Söll is perfect for active holidays in the mountains, e.g. the Hohe Salve, which offers two worthwhile destinations: at the intermediate station of the funicular which starts at the edge of Söll, there is the water and adventure path “Hexenwasser Hochsöll”, offering the longest barefoot path of Austria. This is also from where the Hochsöll funicular takes you to the top of the mountain, where you can find a chapel with the famous wind harp. Nature makes music and invites visitors to pause and listen. Moreover there are several thematic trails in and around Söll.

In winter the funicular on the Hohe Salve mountain represents the door to the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental. The largest connected ski carousel of Austria features 279 km of ski slopes and 91 lift facilites. Those who would like to dedicate themselves to arts and culture should make a visit to the Baroque parish church: the interior is decorated with pieces of art by Christof Anton Mayr. Still seeking something special? What about the husky day, offered weekly in winter? An adventure you won’t ever forget!

Our recommendation: a very popular event in summer is the so called “Z’sammkemma”, which is kind of farmers’ market providing information on different handicraft trades of the region…
