Fieberbrunn

From Mt. Wildseeloder high above the village, you can enjoy a fabulous view on Mt. Wilder Kaiser and the Loferer Steinberge

Altitude: 780 m a.s.l.

The market town of Fieberbrunn, the largest locality of the Pillersee Valley, got its name in a very curious way: According to a legend, Margaret, Countess of Tyrol, suffered from fever and was healed when she drank the water from the fountain that is located beneath the current church. This fountain, which means "Brunnen" in German, was then called "Fieberbrunnen" (Fieber means fever), while the locality itself, once called "Pramau", was renamed Fieberbrunn.

The wonderful PillerseeTal and its eponymous lake make active holidays amidst water and mountains possible. The Fieberbrunn lift facilities take you to routes such as the Scenic Via Ferrata "Himmel & Henne", the Flower Path Hochhörndl and the Fieberbrunn High Route. The latter leads past the well-known Wildseeloderhaus Mountain Hut, located at 1,854 m a.s.l.

But also families and those who wouldn't like do a long hike, will feel at ease in the Fieberbrunn Mountains. If you get off at the intermediate station of the Fieberbrunn lift facilities, you may pay a visit to "Timok's Wild World". The leisure park is located near the Streuböden Reservoir and features - as a special highlight - an alpine roller coaster which stays open also in winter, when the Fieberbrunn Skiing Area opens its doors in this wonderful place...
