Volders

Of utmost importance to Volders are its customs, such as the “Naz Aus- und Eingraben” in Carnival and the maypole climbing

Altitude: 558 m a.s.l.

The municipality of Volders is located 15 km in the east of Innsbruck, south of the Inn river between the valley floor and the Voldertal valley. It is an ideal holiday resort if you would like to combine active holidays with some culture. One of the sights nearby is the settlement "Siedlung Himmelreich" with 10 km long circular trail, one of the main Tyrolean archaeological excavation sites. Basements, pottery and iron tools of the Romansh period were found here.

Also mountain bikers and hikers are attracted by the Voldertal valley, offering a great network of hiking and MTB trails. On the valleyfloor, however, there's the Inn Cycle Route - Tiroler Unterland, which takes you in a day stage towards Innsbruck or Erl. In winter, Volderberg offers a 2 km long toboggan run, which is ideal for a great afternoon with your friends or family.

One of the main cultural sights of Volders is the St. Charles Borromeo Monastery Church known as Karlskirche. It is not only considered to be the symbol of Volders, but it also represents one of the main Rokoko masterpieces in Tyrol. Next to it there is Lake Volders, which is idyllically surrounded by a forest. Furthermore, a bit further away rise Aschach Castle and Friedberg Castle - both estates are today surrounded by a beautiful park and several natural monuments.
