Rinn

Already more than a century ago, Rinn was mentioned as one of the first climatic health-resorts of the Tyrolean low mountain range

Altitude: 918 m a.s.l.

Rinn is located on a low mountain range terrace about 10 km from Innsbruck. Its name probably derives from the Romansh term "Run", which means "clearing site". Rinn was mentioned as one of the first climatic health-resorts of the Tyrolean low mountain range: Particularly praised were the panoramic view, its position sheltered from the wind, and the excellent water quality.

Today, numerous well-marked hiking and MTB trails are ideal for experiencing the mountains, while in the village itself there is an 18-hole golf course, which is part - together with the 9-hole course in Lans - of the Innsbruck-Igls Golf Club. The golf course in Rinn at the slopes of Mt. Glungezer is first of all impressive due to the panoramic view. In winter, however, kids' hearts leap for joy in the Kinderland Rinn, where they can make their first trials on snow. Furthermore there are the toboggan run Rinner Alm and the cross-country skiing center with its two tracks.

Particularly popular is the nearby Judenstein Pilgrimage Church (literally: Jew's stone), established in 1670 AD. The legend of "Anderl von Rinn" is linked with the church: When it was considered to be false, this place was no longer a pilgrimage site from 1994 on. Today, the church is dedicated to the Visitation of Mary, and is in general known as memorial for abused children and adolescents. Moreover it is a popular venue for baptising and weddings. Also other buildings have interesting stories to tell: of Tyrolean freedom fighters, of rococo, and of a pact with the devil...
