The sound of the Freedom Bell in Mösern is aimed at recalling freedom, good neighbourhood and the feeling of a united Europe

Mösern and Buchen are two component localities of the market town of Telfs, located high above the main village. From the touristic viewpoint, both of them belong to the Olympic Region Seefeld. The view, which was already immortalized by Albrecht Dürer in its self portrait in 1498, reaches beyond the Inn Valley. A peculiarity of Mösern are the fences and lanterns along the main roads: The fences are still hand-made, and the lanterns are produced by a local metalsmith.
Relaxation and recreation is guaranteed by the three idyllically located lakes in the surroundings. One of them is Lake Mösern, situated at 1,292 m a.s.l. near the forest, a nature reserve which can be reached in a 15-minute walk. The other ones are called Wildmoossee and Lottensee, natural phenomenons that repeatedly appear and disappear. This phenomenon is attachable to the snow melt, during which the water is stored in the karstified subsoil, forming the lakes.
In winter, this area on the southern edge of the Seefeld Plateau boasts a well-groomed cross-country ski network which is one of the best areas for this sport in Europe. Furthermore, the Olympic Region Seefeld Skiing Area unites five skiing areas, and offers therefore 44 km of ski fun. Also the largest bell of Tyrol and the largest free-hanging bell of the entire alpine area rises in Mösern. This "Friedensglocke" - Freedom Bell - was established on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the "ArgeAlp", the Working Group of Alpine Countries. It sounds every day at 5 pm.
