Aldrans

Already in the 19th century, Aldrans was a popular holiday resort and this tradition continued

Altitude: 760 m a.s.l.

Aldrans is located on a sunny terrace above Innsbruck. One of its five component localities is Herzsee near the eponymous lake, which is particularly popular with hikers. In 1893 Aldrans, situated along the former Salt Road of Hall in Tirol, was almost completely destroyed by a fire.

Located only 3 km from Innsbruck, you can also reach the Alpine City on foot in a 30-minutes' walk. If you would like to experience the enchanting nature in the surroundings, we recommend a walk on the Stone Pine Path or the Speckbacher Trail: The latter starts in the nearby Tulfes and takes you in 4.5 hours around the southeastern highlands. Also the Goldbichl Archeologic Trail is part of it. The Stone Pine Path - or Zirbenweg - high above Innsbruck, however, leads through the largest stone pine forest of the Alps, stretching between Mt. Patscherkofel and Mt. Glungezer.

In winter, both mountains are popular skiing areas, but the ski bus takes you also to skiing areas that are further away - such as the Schlick 2000 Skiing Area and the Stubai Glacier. Visible from afar is the the steeple of Aldrans: It belongs to the St. Martin Church, originally built in Gothic style and converted to Baroque style in the 18th century. By the way: Already for centuries, people in the village used to act. The so-called "Martinsspiele" for example date back to the year 1759, moreover there was an "Amazons' Theatre", in which only women were allowed to participate.
