Terfens

In Terfens there’s the Maria Larch Chapel with its curative spring, which is supposed to have healed a mute girl in 1718

Altitude: 591 m a.s.l.

Terfens with its numerous component localities is located in an idyllic position at the foot of the Karwendel Mountains, about 20 km from Innsbruck. The village was already mentioned as "Tervenes" in the 11th century, a name with Celtic origins which means "oak wood". Today, Terfens is a calm holiday resort near the Karwendel Alpine Park.

Numerous climbing routes, hiking paths and MTB trails take you across the fabulous natural landscape of the Karwendel Alpine Park with its protected flora and fauna. Near Terfens, however, there are two educational trails of particular interest: The 1-hour Planetary Trail starts in Vomperbach and takes you across the "Forchat", the one and only large forest at the bottom of the Lower Inn Valley. The second one is called Panorama Trail and snakes at Hochpillberg. The 8.5 km long path is located on the sunny slopes and therefore walkable almost all year round.

The latter leads past the pilgrimage church Maria Larch, dating back to the 17th century, and its medical spring, which is supposed to have healed a mute girl in 1718. Also families can look forward to two special places in Terfens: the "Upside Down House" and the Weisslahn bathing lake with soccer, tennis and beach volleyball courts, which can be reached on the Inn Cycle Route.
