Grän

Worth a visit is the alpine cheese factory Biedermann, where you can see traditional methods of cheesemaking

Altitude: 1,134 m a.s.l.

The small holiday resort of Grän is located in the Tannheimer Valley, which is considered to be "the most beautiful high valley of Europe". Cultural highlights in the little village are its two altarpieces: The piece of art in the St. Aloysius Chapel illustrates Aloysius Gonzaga worshipping baby Jesus, whereas the altarpiece in the St. James Chapel pictures Saint James the Less.

Moreover Grän offers various leisure time activities: Of course, Lake Haldensee is a pole of attraction for swimmers, water sports enthusiasts, sun-seekers and those seeking relaxation. It is surrounded by a fabulous mountain scenery. "Cindarella's Castle", however, a Day Spa with pool and sauna world with energetic water, offers further space for relaxing. Grän and surroundings await you also with several Nordic Walking routes, MTB trails and hiking paths.

In winter, Lake Haldensee offers ideal conditions for ice skating and curling, on request also by floodlight. On the sunny side of the Tannheimer Valley, the Füssener Jöchl Skiing Area opens its doors, further ski slopes are available in the neighbouring Nesselwängle Skiing Area. By the way: Already 60 years ago, cheese has been produced in Grän. Werner Biedermann gained experience as a dairymen in Switzerland, before he came to Grän to open a private dairy. The Biedermann Cheese Factory produces with modern equipment cheese specialties, butter and yoghurt today.
