Brixlegg

Brixlegg, a market town and the partner village of Aichach in Swabia in Germany, is located at the entrance of the Alpbachtal valley. It is one of the oldest settlement areas of Tyrol, and was first mentioned in 788 AD as "Prisslech". The town was above all known for copper mining - the largest smelter was located here. The copper refinery that developed out of this structure - the "Montanwerke Brixlegg AG" - is today Austria's only copper plant.

This charming village has everything that makes your holidays a relaxed one: hiking trails on the mountains and cycle routes in the valley, modern shops that provide micropolis flair, and numerous cafés and restaurants, among them also the only starred restaurant of the area. In the surroundings rises Matzen Castle, which cannot be visited, but opens its wonderful castle park to visitors. The old buildings of Brixlegg, including the mansions Grasegg and Landegg, are particularly significant due to the fact that Brixlegg was destroyed in great parts in WWII.

In winter, the Ski Jewel Alpbachtal Wildschönau invites you to spend great days on the skis or the snowboard, and to try tobogganing or cross-country skiing. As we are talking about winter sports: Brixlegg is the place where the former ski races and Olympic champion Stefan Eberharter comes from. However, also in the skateboard scene Brixlegg is a well-known place, because in the fantastic 1,200 sqm large "The Cradle" skateboarders can nearly ride headfirst.
