Either you reach the ice cave via Buchacker alpine pasture, or from Hinterthiersee via Kögl and Hundalm alpine pastures. The main entrance to the cave is located on 1,520 m asl.
Since 1956 the Hundalm ice and dripstone cave has been protected, while researches started in the mid 60s.
