At the entrance of the Zillertal valley, in the municipality of Schlitters, there is the homonymous lake for bathing, which has become a popular recreation area and excursion destination. On a total surface of 22,000 sqm, water rats can splash around or relax on the lawn for sunbathing. Also a beach volley field and sanitary facilities are available. Next to the lake, there is the sports area of Schlitters, for all those who prefer playing soccer or tennis.
When the nature bathing lake was planned, much attention was also paid to the offers for kids. For this reason a non-swimmer’s area has been established, where the little ones can make their first trials in water. A wooden pirate ship and a sandpit with sun shade are also included in the offer for children. Completed in 2009, there is also an adventure playground in a little forest. Playing in close contact with nature, this was the motto in the planning period. Huge wooden figurines, slides and other extraordinary toys make the offer for families complete.
Lake Schlitters is located along the cycle track of the Zillertal valley and can be reached in a hike starting from Bruck. This pleasant walk takes you over the Ziller river via a pending bridge. The Seecafe tavern at the lakeside is ideal for a stop. While the lake is accessible the whole year round, bathing is only possible in summertime.
