Lake Mölssee

In the waters of the Mölssee, a mountain lake in the Hall-Wattens region, live different species of carp and trout species

The Mölssee - beside Lake Lichtsee - is one of the largest lakes located at this altitude. It can be found in the Mölstal valley in the Wattentaler Lizum, the east end of the Wattental valley. The lake is characterised by crystal clear water, the eponymous Mölsbach river represents its runoff.

You can reach Lake Mölssee only on foot, but it's not always accessible, as it is located in restricted area. However, the ascent to the lake follows the Wattental Road, leads past the Mölsalm Mountain Hut and takes you to the Mölser Scharte ridge. It is rather steep terrain.

A jump into the lake is not possible, as also in hot summer months water temperature does not exceed 16 degrees C, but the beautiful surroundings at the Mölssee compensate the exhausting walk. A real power place! By the way: The lake was already mentioned as "Wattensee" in the 16th century in the Tyrolean Fishing Book of Emperor Maximilian.
