Lake Berglsteiner

Lake Berglsteiner is one of several lakes - among them the Krummsee and Frauensee - in the “Kramsacher Seengebiet”

Lake Berglsteiner is located between Kramsach and Breitenberg am Inn, above Lake Reintaler in a rather hidden position. There is a legend regarding this lake: It is located at the foot of the ruins of Castle Gückenbühl. Once upon a time there was a knight with a beautiful daughter in this castle. She fell in love with a poor hunter who, according to her father, was inappropriate.

For this reason the knight had the hunter expelled from the castle by his dogs. The hunter fell into the lake and drowned. Obviously the daughter was terribly sad and often visited the lake in remembrance of her beloved hunter. One day the deathly pale hunter appeared in the waves of Lake Berglsteiner and called his beloved. With an outcry, the knight's daughter jumped into the waves. Still today, two stone isles, forever united, stand out in the lake...

In summer, it is a popular and freely accessible bathing lake. At the lakeside, there is a restaurant, which also hosts seminars and celebrations. Starting point for the hike to the lake is the parking space at the eastern end of Lake Reintaler. On a length of 1.8 km, it takes you along a forested road up to the destination. In a 15-minutes' walk you can also surround Lake Berglsteiner on foot.
