Augustine Museum Rattenberg
This museum has been inaugurated in 1993 in Rattenberg am Inn and is a former Augustin monastery.
In 1385 a Bavarian professional hunter donated the Augustin monastery of Rattenberg, which has been expanded several times in the course of the centuries. In 1971 this monastery abandoned and transformed into a museum, which was inaugurated in 1993. One year later it has been awarded with the Austrian Museum Prize.
The Augustine Museum Rattenberg is a regional museum featuring exhibits, which mainly come from the Tiroler Unterland region. The focus of the exhibition is set on Gothic sculpures, gold and silver smithery, Baroque arts and religious folk art. In a word, it presents Tyrolean treasures of nine centuries.
Moreover the museum offers various programmes for children and school classes in cooperation with different pedagogic authorities.
