The Anich-Hueber Museum, more than 100 years old and the oldest village museum of Tyrol, tells about Peter Anich and Blasius Hueber

In the centre of Oberperfuss, the Peter-Anich-House houses a small but interesting museum. It is dedicated to Peter Anich (1723-1766), a famous cartographer, astronomer and constructor of sundials and globes, and his assistant Blasius Hueber (1735-1814), also cartographer and land surveyor. Both come from the village. Peter Anich constructed sundials already in his youth and was supported by the Jesuit priest and university professor Ignaz von Weinhart.
Later Peter Anich got the patent for the exclusive production of globes, which were then known as "novel world balls". 30 of them still exist. Anich and Hueber were also famous for their precision in the field of land surveying. The Anich-Hueber Museum Oberperfuss houses several really particular treasures, among them three celestial globes and two earth globes of Peter Anich. Another showpiece is the "Atlas Tyrolensis" which is one of the most precise maps of that time.
Also some large surveying instruments and various written records are exhibited in the vitrines. The exhibition is completed by an area which is dedicated to the great organ builder family of Mathias and Franz Weber who also come from Oberperfuss. The Tyrolean State Museum Ferdinandeum in Innsbruck still owns a grand piano of Mathias Weber (1777-1848).

The museum stays open all year round upon request from Monday to Friday, except on public holidays. Guided tours for adults and for children from primary-school age on on request.
