Fohlenhof Ebbs 2011

Haflinger foal farm Ebbs

This modern stud farm was founded in 1947 and features about 150 Haflinger horses.

The Haflinger foal farm Ebbs is one of the most significant Haflinger stud farms worldwide. Already the Celts discovered this spot of land at the foot of the Zahmer Kaiser mountain for horse breeding. Today, however, the farm features some 150 Haflinger horses and is popular both with adults and children and of course horse enthusiasts. Two indoor riding arenas and stables with 100 boxes are publicly accessible. Horses spend winter in their stables, while foals pass summer on alpine pastures. To the stud also belong 10 hectares of closures as well as a an area for carriages with dressage course and six fixed hurdles. Trained and certified staff also give horse riding lessons.

In the Haflinger foal farm there is also a Haflinger horse and horse carriage museum, featuring a collection of carriages. Many exhibits are more than 100 years old, but could still be used. Part of the exhibition is also dedicated to the historical aspect of hourse breeding, illustrated by documents and photographs. Also a range of awards and trophies won by horses of the farm are exposed. One of the highlights is the 200-year old original saddle which was used in the movie “The Last Valley” with Omar Sharif and Michael Caine as leading actors.

By the way: a visit in the Haflinger foal farm Ebbs is also possible when the weather is bad, as most of the attractions are sheltered. However, while watching their children doing horseriding, parents can simply sit back and relax in the “Reiterstube” tavern and enjoy a snack.
